Ratings & Reviews
The marketplace rating system lets consumers provide feedback on data products, creating a community-driven trust signal for the organization.
How Ratings Work
Star Rating
Every marketplace listing can receive a 1-to-5 star rating from any authenticated user. Ratings are displayed as an average score on the listing card and detail page.
- Ratings are per-user: each user can rate a listing once
- Upsert behavior — re-rating updates your previous rating rather than creating a duplicate
- The average score recalculates in real-time after each new rating
Text Reviews
Alongside the star rating, users can leave an optional text review explaining their experience with the data product. Reviews include:
- Author name and avatar
- Submission date
- Star rating associated with the review
View Count
Each listing tracks a view count showing how many times it has been viewed. This helps identify popular datasets even if they haven't received many ratings yet.
Viewing Ratings
On Listing Cards
The marketplace grid shows a compact star rating and view count on each card, giving you a quick signal before clicking through.
On the Detail Page
The full detail page shows:
- Average star rating with count
- Individual text reviews with author, date, and rating
- View count badge
Rating Best Practices
When reviewing a data product, consider:
- Accuracy — Is the data correct and up-to-date?
- Documentation — Are the descriptions and schema well-documented?
- Reliability — Does the data arrive on time with consistent quality?
- Usability — Is it easy to understand and work with?
Producers receive notifications when their listings receive new reviews, helping them improve their data products based on consumer feedback.
