Bulk Editing
The catalog supports bulk operations that let you update multiple data products at once — saving time when you need to tag, assign ownership, change status, or archive products across your space.
Selecting Products
Multi-Select Mode
To begin bulk editing:
- Open the Data Catalog in your space
- Click the checkbox that appears on each product card
- Select multiple products — the count updates in the toolbar
- A Bulk Action Toolbar appears at the bottom of the screen
You can select products across multiple pages; selections are preserved as you navigate.
Select All
Use the Select All checkbox in the toolbar header to select all visible products in the current filtered view.
Bulk Actions
With products selected, the toolbar offers the following actions:
Bulk Tag
Assign tags to all selected products at once:
- Click Tag in the toolbar
- Select one or more tags from the dropdown
- Click Apply — tags are added to all selected products
Bulk Status Change
Change the status of all selected products:
- Click Status in the toolbar
- Select the target status (Active or Archived)
- Confirm the action
Bulk Owner Assignment
Assign or change the owner for all selected products:
- Click Owner in the toolbar
- Search for and select a user
- Click Apply — the owner is updated on all selected products
Bulk Archive
Archive multiple products at once:
- Click Archive in the toolbar
- Confirm the action
- Selected products are soft-archived (hidden by default, can be restored)
Bulk Edit Modal
For more complex edits, click Edit in the toolbar to open the Bulk Edit Modal. This lets you update multiple fields across all selected products simultaneously:
- Description — Apply the same description to all selected products
- Owner / Steward / Custodian — Assign governance roles
- Tags — Add or replace tags
- Product Type — Change the product type classification
- Status — Set the product status
Bulk edits use a "set" operation — the values you provide replace existing values for all selected products. Existing values that are not edited are preserved.
Permissions
Bulk operations require the same permissions as individual edits. If you don't have permission to edit a specific product, it will be skipped during the bulk operation and the toolbar will indicate how many products were successfully updated.
